Happy 50th Birthday, BASIC

Ahh..BASIC, I can feel the enthusiasm everytime I hear this programming language. BASIC was one of the first programming language I’ve learned and I instantly fell in love with it.

Managed Languages team put together something to show nostalgia and affection to BASIC. The team have developed QuickVB.

QuickVB is powered by .NET compiler Platform (‘Roslyn’) NuGet packages that were previewed at BUILD this years. Just download the source from CodePlex, then build and run it from Visual Studio 2013.

When you start QuickVB, the environment is very nostalgic to QuickBasic. But, this is actually a Windows console application powered by Rosylyn.

There’s a few other surprises, so check out QuickVB and explore what it can do.
